Manchester United are very unlikely to meet Tottenham’s asking price for Harry Kane during the economic uncertainty of the coronavirus crisis this summer.

There are no guarantees that the current Premier League season will be completed and no one knows when English football will resume after the coronavirus pandemic has subsided.

There are hopeful reports that the season could resume in June and still be completed, but there is still the possibility that there will be no football till as late as October.

With football clubs losing huge amounts of revenue during the postponements, and a lot more money to be lost if games are eventually played behind closed doors, they are much less likely to spend big in the transfer market, as and when the window eventually opens.

The Guardian reports that Kane would likely cost United around £150m and this is simply out of their financial reach after the club re-evaluated their budget amid the current climate.

Kane has a contract at Spurs until 2024 and the north London club have no intention of letting him go for anything but top dollar.

With a replacement likely to be incredibly difficult to find, Tottenham would not be willing to enter into negotiations with United as they tried to drive the price down.

Former Tottenham director of football Damien Comolli has suggested that clubs will be much more willing to offer swap deals with cash at a premium. United would have to come up with an impressive package of players to tempt Spurs into a deal for Kane.
