Ben Foster has revealed that he was torn to pieces by Roy Keane during their time together at Manchester United because he did not roll out the ball quickly enough.

Foster joined United in the summer of 2005 after being spotted playing for Wrexham by Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, Foster spent just a few weeks training with Keane before he was sent out on loan to Watford.

And Foster has revealed that Keane pulled no punches when it came to criticism in training.

‘He’s a scary bloke,’ Foster said on That Peter Crouch Podcast.

‘I was s**t scared of him.

‘I rolled the ball out to him too slow apparently. He absolutely b****cked me.

‘He stopped the ball, b****cked me, then turned around and carried on playing.

‘I was glad he went in that summer – I was so glad he signed for Celtic a few weeks later.’

Foster never played alongside Keane in a game for United as the former Republic of Ireland international left Old Trafford in November 2005 and joined Celtic a month later.

Meanwhile, Foster made just 23 appearances for United before he was sold to Birmingham City in 2010.
