Good news for racing as Spartan announces events

Spartan is making our wishes come true, by putting on four carefully managed racing events this year for runners in the UK, following latest government guidelines.

Over the last month, Spartan has been able to test the waters with safe races in the US, Korea, Taiwan and Hungary.

While implementing new and modified operating procedures to maximise the safety of races, Spartan’s new safety protocol will require a reduction of the event capacity by more than 60 percent of their usual size. Heat sizes will be reduced to 50 racers departing every five minutes to allow for ample social distancing. And as well as this, the course will be expanded in areas to allow more space for racers.

On-site registration will be eliminated to minimise customer touch points, and before entering, participants will receive contactless temperature checks, preventing those with high temperatures entering the event.

All event staff and volunteers will wear face coverings throughout the event and racers are asked to be respectful, honouring Spartan’s request to do the same off the course and in the presence of others. Racers will not be permitted to enter the venue more than 45 minutes before their start time, and will have to leave within 30 minutes of their finish, to reduce the number of people on-site. Additional cleaning and sanitisation of customer touch-points will also take place throughout the race course and event areas.

The races are…

  • Hurricane Heats are scheduled for 8th, 9th, 29th & 30th August, 2020
  • The Windsor Event remains scheduled for 10th & 11th October, 202o
  • The Midlands Event remains rescheduled for 24th & 25th October, 2020
  • The South East Event, previously rescheduled to take place on 15th & 16th August, 2020, is now scheduled to take place on 7th & 8th November, 2020 (with the new inclusion of an Ultra heat)
